Processing the Data in Radio Astronomy

Author: Alexander Ubiria
Keywords: Radio Astronomy, Radio Waves, Wavelet Spectral Analysis, Active Galactic Nuclei
Annotation:

We present results of radio monitoring of BL Lac Object OJ 287. We used observations carried out by Michigan University Peach Mountain Observatory, Owens Valley Radio Observatory and "MOJAVE" Program on 15 GHz from June 1974 to April 2019. We use Wavelet Spectral Analysis to process the variations in flux. We compare our results with the optical observations of the object. Additionally we've analyzed degree of polarization of radio waves with frequency of 15 GHz and the position angles of jets. The results of their wavelet analysis have been compared to the existing theoretical models. During the work on the variations in Flux, we discuss Fractional Variability as the adequate tool to statistically analyse spectral data.
